Captain Morice
The Harpooner was a chartered barque that sailed the northwest coast and the Pacific. In 1852, a rumour began that Captain Morice and his wife were murdered. However, Mrs. Morice corrected that rumour in a letter, explaining that several ships had had that fate upon landing in China, but that they had not been victims of the same. The ship carried passengers and cargo.
Captain Morice was in the Fort at least one year prior to the 1849 entry, having dropped off coal miner John Muir and his family.
