Cunard, Samuel
Cunard was born in Halifax in 1787 where he had a long career in the shipping industry and founded the Cunard Steamship Company. In 1848 he advised the Admiralty to formally proclaim the coal mines at Fort Rupert to be property of the Crown. He died in 1865.
